country for the first time. Add to that scenario the fact that the child
suffers from a congenital heart defect that threatens his or her life.
Who wouldn’t be fearful of all the uncertainty that surrounds them? Each child and parent that Gift of Life brings to the United States, or an affiliated program in another country, experiences this emotion.
For this reason, Gift of Life has created its hosting program. The hosting program allows local families to act as a base of support and care for an arriving child and parent.
Host families are responsible for providing:
On the average, the child and their parent will need to be hosted for a period of 4 to 6 weeks. During this period, the hosting individual or family is required to incur the cost of all the above-mentioned responsibilities.
