Global Initiatives Sponsored by Gift of Life International
The strategy of focusing the GOLI network on strategically selected countries has allowed us to maximize the collective power we possess to make an impact on a specific countries ability to develop a sustainable pediatric cardiac surgery and aftercare program. Not only are we able to mobilize our network of Gift of Life programs to help countries in their efforts to reduce the number of children waiting for surgery but we are able to galvanize global awareness to create the context within a country for the development of a sustainable program.
The “Our Hearts Are in…” program has been implemented in Uganda, El Salvador and Jamaica with the goal of creating centers of excellence in those regions. We focus our efforts on:
- Providing training visits to develop the skills of local doctors and nurses
- Acquiring essential equipment, supplies and medications to support reliable surgeries
- Establishing sustainable in country funding sources on a reliable basis by partnering with local governments, corporations, Foundations, Rotary Clubs and individuals
Over the past four years, the "Our Hearts Are In..." programs have helped to treat over 1,800 Jamaican, Ugandan and Salvadoran children while empowering in country doctors and nurses to do what they were trained to do : Save Their Kids!

Our efforts are not limited to these countries, however a significant amount of resources have been focused on the development of our programs in these countries.
